Is OldtoLife free to try?
Yes. You can download OldtoLife and try every restoration tool. A Premium subscription unlocks unlimited restorations, HD downloads, and removes daily limits, and it starts with a 3-day free trial.
How does AI photo restoration work?
You upload a photo, choose a tool (restore, colorize, enhance, brighten, recreate, or merge), and the app sends it to our AI model. The model repairs damage, reconstructs missing detail, or adds natural color, then returns a high-resolution result — usually in about ten seconds.
Will the result look natural, not fake?
OldtoLife is tuned to preserve real facial features and identity rather than inventing a new face. Colors are chosen to look period-accurate and believable. You can always compare before and after with a slider and re-run with a different tool.
Are my photos kept private?
Your photos are uploaded only to process them and are used solely to return your result. We do not sell your images or use them to train unrelated models. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
What photo formats and sizes are supported?
Common formats like JPEG, PNG, and HEIC are supported. For the best results, use the sharpest, highest-resolution scan or photo you have and make sure faces are clearly visible.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and can be cancelled anytime from your iPhone Settings. If you cancel during the free trial you will not be charged.
Which tool should I use for a very old, damaged photo?
Start with Restore to remove scratches, stains, and tears. If the photo is black-and-white, follow with Colorize. For blurry or low-resolution scans use Enhance, and for photos that are too dark use Brighten. Badly destroyed portraits can be rebuilt with Recreate.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Restorations are processed by AI models on our servers, so an internet connection is required to upload your photo and receive the result.
Will OldtoLife change what people look like?
The tools are designed to preserve real identity and facial features rather than invent a new face. Recreate, used for severe damage, reconstructs missing areas — you can always compare with the before/after slider and re-run.
Can I use restored photos for printing or gifts?
Yes. Premium results download in full HD, which is suitable for printing, framing, and photo gifts. You own the photos you upload and the results you create.
